There are more than 10,000 lakes in Minnesota so spending time near or on the water is a favorite pastime for many of us. When our kids were younger we used to rent a cabin on tiny Boxell Lake up north. It came with the use of a paddleboat and a canoe and because we were generally the only people on the lake at any time, they got a lot of use. The kids loved the feeling of independence going fishing without us and we appreciated that due to the size of the lake we could always keep an eye on them.
