I have come to realize over the years that I often deal with grief by making art. The meditative nature of creating allows me to process my feelings while also paying tribute to the loss.

In October 2025 we received heartbreaking news of the passing of our dear friend, Dawn. She was one of the strongest and most positive women I have ever known despite the struggles of a decade long battle with cancer. She was thoughtful and caring, a loving mother to four kids and countless foster children, a great cook and gardener and the kind of friend who was up for anything. Everyone that knew her was better for it and I am grateful to have had her in my orbit for the last 10 years.

I started this piece in the week following her passing. It brought me great comfort, imagining her warmth and love spread far and wide into the universe where she will be with us always. Dawn of the Cosmos.
